Expo Transportation Guide
During the period of 2010 Shanghai Expo, convenient and efficient public transportation will be available in Shanghai. The two international airports in Shanghai: Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport are now being expanded. A public transportation hub is also being built near Hongqiao International Airport. City expressways from Shanghai to the neighboring cities of Nanjing, Suzhou and Hangzhou, and several of the city's subway lines all have stops at the hub. Moreover, a large railway station is under construction in this area. The capacity for passengers and freight will be greatly increased in Shanghai after the completion of these projects.
The transportation for the Shanghai World Expo will be supported provided by five subways lines, one magnetic-levitation train and three ports as well as two international airports and the city’s convenient bus system. Among them, overland public transportation will certainly play a most importation role during the Expo.
By 2010, the total length of the Shanghai Subway will be increased to 400 km from 200 km. It is reported that the magnetic-levitation train and subway lines 4, 6, 7, 8 will lead directly to the Expo site. In order to ease the transportation in the exhibition area, Shanghai will put a large number of new buses into use during the Expo period, so that non-stop buses can be provided for visitors to the Expo garden. Some transfer stations with buses to the Expo will also be built along the expressways leading to Shanghai. >>More about Shanghai Transportation
