Tour Description

This fully guided private tour to Tongli Ancient Town will take you back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties for a glimpse of what local life looked like in past centuries.

Your local guide will meet you in your Suzhou hotel lobby and transfer you to Tongli Ancient Water Town for about 1 hour. Be ready to spend time wandering through the old and tranquil water town with its bluestone pavements and antique buildings dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. First you will visit Tuisi Garden, the most renowned garden in the town for the way it has skillfully blended different elements of typical southern gardens into a small space to showcase various amazing landscapes. On to Pearl Tower, well-known for the beautiful love story between Fang Qing and Miss Chen. This is a classical example of a wealthy southern residence, and you will enjoy the wonderful love story which your guide will share with you. Enjoy a Chinese lunch in a local restaurant before you squeeze through Chuanxin Alley, a very narrow alley linking two streets and alleys. Though the alley is small and deep, there is no lack of sunshine. Continue on to visit Jiayin Hall, overlooking the crystal river, appreciating the detail of this elegant design that represents the ancient houses of the Ming and Qing Dynasty. When you have finished this water town trip, you will be taken to your hotel by your friendly guide.
