Suggestions for Flights
Morning Flight from Shanghai to Xi'an
For a one-day tour of Xi'an from Shanghai, it is best to take an early-morning flight. Airlines such as China Eastern, Air China, and China Southern Airlines operate multiple daily flights between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA), and Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY).
Departing from Shanghai at around 7:00–8:00 am will get you to Xi'an by around 10:00–11:00 am, leaving you with most of the day to explore. For example, China Eastern's MU2156 flight from Shanghai Hongqiao takes approximately two hours and ten minutes.
Evening Flight Back to Shanghai
When returning, consider taking an evening flight. Taking a flight between 8 pm and 9 pm will allow you to enjoy Xi'an's night scenes, such as those at the famous Grand Tang Mall, before heading back. Airlines usually offer a range of fares, with prices fluctuating based on booking time, class of service, and travel season.
