Tour Description

The historic scenic town of Wuzhen makes for a very interesting journey from Hangzhou for the day. We will pick you up from your hotel in Hangzhou in the morning and take you to Wuzhen which is just short of 1.5 hours away. There are actually 6 water towns south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River but this is among the most spectacular.

Wuzhen has a history of more than 1,200 years and is famous for its ancient stone bridges, stone pathways, and delicate wood carvings. Walking around, you will feel the romanticism of this area with its ancient docks, waterside pavilions, and lovely corridors. The canals make for fascinating thruways in this town for the residents that navigate them daily.

On this full day tour, we will also go to the Lizhi Study House, the Former Residence of Mao Dun, explore the streets from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, see southern Chinese style wood carvings and bed collections, take part in a weaving and dying workshop, and meet a local family.

Lunch is included and will be at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon, we will begin the journey back to Hangzhou and then drop you back at your hotel.
