While the Panda reserves are certainly the best known attraction in the area, there are several other day trips that are good as well. Beyond the Pandas, Chengdu is also known for it's food - the Sichuan province where it's located has some of the spiciest food in all of China. Definitely take the time to enjoy a few good meals but be prepared for the peppers!

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for arranging our trip to the panda reserve.

The Chengdu area itself is a great short trip within itself. The panda reserve is actually quite nice and exceeded our expectations as the conditions the animals live in are really of a good, international standard (some of the typical zoo's here in China are a bit depressing). A half day is really enough for the pandas but be sure to go early as to beat the larger groups. Also, the panda's nap in the afternoons so mornings are the best time to see them up and about.
