The Anting Villa Hotel was in a very quiet, leafy area of Shanghai. Nice and clean with friendly staff and a good Chinese and Western breakfast. Unfortunately the evening meal we had there wasn't anything special. The location was good and it was close to a couple of metro stations for tourists to do exploring by themselves.

Hello Michael

I'm not sure how much feed back you're interested in, but as a tourist and a customer of China Highlights I would like to comment on our recent 24 day tour of China, Lhasa and Hong Kong.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION:

The Anting Villa Hotel was in a very quiet, leafy area of Shanghai. Nice and clean with friendly staff and a good Chinese and Western breakfast. Unfortunately the evening meal we had there wasn't anything special. The location was good and it was close to a couple of metro stations for tourists to do exploring by themselves.

Our hotel in Lhasa was also very good, with a great outlook to the Potala Palace. However we would have preferred a hotel closer to the main market and city centre. The staff were excellent, the room clean and all the food was very good.

Our hotel in Xian was the best, with an excellent location within the old city walls. It's a very busy hotel, but the staff were very good, and the food was excellent. Our room was very spacious, modern and very clean.

The Sunworld in Beijing , it was clean and the staff helpful. It's one redeeming feature was it's location. Situated very close to a large pedestrian mall it made for pleasant walks in the evening.

The YMCA (Salisbury) Hotel in Hong Kong was superb. Once again a very busy hotel, with lots happening in the hotel foyer, it seemed a very dynamic place to stay. The breakfast was the best of our stay, however we couldn't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat there. A very well located hotel, only 100 metres away from the Star Ferry terminus. The staff were very helpful, and everything was very clean.

The Katarina which took us through the 3 Gorges was a nice spacious ship. Our cabin was clean and the staff always helpful. The food on board was top class and the shows the crew performed at night were entertaining. Unfortunately it rained every day on the voyage, however the 3 gorges were a little disappointing, not as impressive as we thought.

OUR GUIDES:

All our guides did a good job. They were always punctual, courteous, offered us water and consulted us if there was any change of plan or another problem. We very always happy with their choice of restaurant to eat lunch or dinner. Naturally their command of English varied, but the majority spoke and understood English very well. Also their understanding of the sights they were showing us was excellent.

At this stage I would like to mention a couple of guides that impressed us the most. David Yang our guide who took us on the Great Wall section or our trip was outstanding. He was really concerned for our wellbeing and safety on our walk. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He really did China Highlights proud and he's a credit to your company. Likewise David from our Xian trip was also excellent. He loves his city and is rightly proud of Xian, its history and the entombed warriors. Both the Davids were very friendly towards us and it made a big difference to us enjoying our holiday even more.

THE DRIVERS:Each and every one of them were polite, friendly and smiling. Above all they were safe drivers and their vehicles were always clean, modern and comfortable.

TO SUMMERISE:

An unforgettable 24 day trip. The 2 days on the Great Wall were just spectacular, the 1st day trekking through the mountains and along the ruins of the Great Wall with the local guide Joe and David Yang, if anything, was better than the 2nd day on the restored section of the Great Wall where all the tourist go. The bike trip around the old wall of Xian was indeed a highlight. The entombed warriors is a world class tourist attraction not to be missed. The Potala Palace in Lhasa is simply beautiful and right in the heart of the city. An at an altitude of 3700 metres it really does take your breath away!!! The Forbidden City is a historians delight. When we come back to Bejing we'll spend a few days exploring it.

We won't hesitate in recommending China Highlights to all our friends. Michael your company is very, very professional and your prices are extremely competitive. We were in your hands for 24 days and thank you for looking after us so well during our stay in China.

All the best for your future

Jeffrey and Helen
