Alicia's Feedback on 5-Day China Tour

Le Le is a very friendly and engaging young man, whose ability to often think “10 steps ahead” impressed us immensely. Le Le has a good sense of humour and was very conversational and easy to talk to.Coco, you might remember our itinerary included a day where we made our own arrangements, including changing accommodation from Yangshou West St to the Yangshou Village Inn. Even so, without us asking, Le Le had organised for a driver to get us to the Village Inn. Le Le even rang them on the day to confirm a driver was coming, and when it turned out those arrangements were not going to be as planned, Le Le organised another driver and eventually took us out to Yangshou Village Inn himself when he had a few free moments that day – on a day when he wasn’t even required to be looking after us! We were impressed.

Dear Coco,

We have now been home from our wonderful éxpedition’ to China for a few weeks and have finally managed to find some time to sit down and write back to you about our trip.

We had such a great tour with Le Le and our driver from China Highlights. We couldn’t have felt more looked after!

The previous night, he had also doubled checked that a driver was coming to take us to the Impression Light Show – something we had booked ourselves. With all our events, through China Highlights and independently booked, Le Le was very thorough in double-checking every step of our itinerary to ensure we were looked after and our needs were being met.

Another time, we were having dinner at the same café where Le Le was eating at another table with some other guides. We had ordered tea, but tea had not appeared and dinner was nearly finished. At one stage, we noticed Le Le get up and say something to the waitress – sure enough, our tea promptly arrived at the table! He was also conscientious that my mother was an older person and would caution us to watch our step or be careful, which was helpful. And he made sure our special dietary requirements were met, even if it would require him to order ahead of time so that the recipe could be changed (ie, bamboo rice in Ping An).

Something else that impressed us was that Le Le was also sensitive to his environment and would occasionally move us away or suggest we look in the opposite direction when coming across scenes (ie, funerals) or situations we may not have felt comfortable with. That showed a young man in tune with cultural differences and we appreciated it. So all this showed us that LeLe is a very valuable member of your team and a China Highlights guide we would highly recommend.

Coco, your assistance in organising alternative arrangements for accommodation in the Longsheng rice terraces at short notice was also appreciated. We really loved it in Ping An village and the cafés were great. We are working very hard to find some edible bamboo in Australia!
