Brief Introduction:
The Nanpu bridge is the first steel and concrete composite girder cable-stayed bridge built in Shanghai. It was built in Sept 1st, 1991, the total length of the bridge is 8346 meters with a centre span of 423 meters, ranking third among cable-stayed bridges in the world. The tower height is 150 meters with two lines of strong cables suspending the bridge. The total construction cost of Nanpu Bridge is CNY 814,670,000, the spiral bridge approach in puxi is considered to be a wonder in world bridge construction.
The main bridge composited with two kinds of building materials: steel and concrete. The next level of bridge deck are made of a large 'beam' frame is, the upper layer is reinforced with concrete, the steel deck and the bridge surface are welded with electronic welding, then poured concrete in the junction to make it into one. This composited deck and the steel framework structure consisting and joint force together, is called the composite beam structure. This is the first time to use in China, and it has opened the first of its kind in the history.
The main bridge is divided into six vehicles lanes; the daily traffic capacity is up to 4.5 to 5 million vehicles. There are 2 meters wide of sidewalk on each side of the main bridge for sightseeing. The Pudong Approach Bridge is 3,746 meters long, it using a complex curve with a long round connected to the South of Yang Gao Road in Pudong. The Approach Bridge is opened 6, 4, 2 vehicles lanes, and the speed limited is 40 km per hour.
