Shanghai Science Technology Museum opened in December 2001, and the original museum and exhibitions were designed by a multimedia company and as always the exhibits are amazing; with a walk-in heart, a "designer’s cradle" and more than 100 interactive exhibits to give life to scientific principles. Permanent exhibitions cover every aspect of science and technology grouped into areas such as Spectrum of Life, Earth Exploration, Light of Wisdom, Cradle of Design, the Children’s Rainbow Land and Animals World. You can enjoy the World of Robots, Home on Earth, Information Era and Spiders, and make your way eventually to the Light of Exploration, Human and Health and Space Navigation on the third floor.
The Space Theatre is on the Third Floor in the Space Navigation Exhibition Hall, and audiences can press buttons on the seat’s armrest to interact with the film. Films change but have included ones like The Search for Life: Are We Alone¸ or Cosmic Collisions.
The Iwerks 4D Theatre is in the sphere hall on the First Floor, whilst the IMAX Dome Theatre and IMAX 3D large format are in the basement, along with a Temporary Exhibition Hall, Science Department Store and other displays. There is a large conference hall and rooms on the top floor.
